Stampinup! Rock and Roll Colouring technique with Sheltering Tree Stamp Set

Good Morning everyone!
Today I am doing my best to divert my attention away from my beautiful Megan (my 12 year old West Highland White Terrier) undergoing major surgery today.
The Vet has just rung me to say they are 3 hours into the surgery and just completed surgery on one ear. They have run through the options, and after discussing it with the Vet and my hubby Steve, we they are going to proceed to surgery on the other ear. She is holding her own at the moment and we just hope and pray that we have made the right decision and that she will come through this OK.

So it was with a huge sigh of relief that I received an email to say that Stampin Up! has published a new video featuring a Rock and Roll colouring technique. So off I toddled to watch the video and loved the card they made using the technique, so I have replicated it here with the tutorial.

A second email brought my next sigh of relief, a new Sketch from Stamping & Blogging Sketch #103
It was perfect for today's card.
Ii do not normally use Sketches, preferring to create my own templates, but today I just need things to be quick, and simple with because I have the concentration span of a gnat right now. I have included the video for you to watch too .... so I hope you all have a bit of fun with this

And here are the products used for today's creation

So here is my card.
It took less than 10 minutes to make this card & here is how I made it ...

Begin by trimming a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to  13.8 cms cms x 9.5 cms
Once you have stamped your sentiment you will mat this Whisper White panel onto a piece of Soft Suede or Baked Brown Sugar measuring  4.3 cms x 10 cms (if you have any left in your stash as this retiring product has already sold out)

Trim another piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 9.3 cms x 9.3 cms
You will mat (layer) this onto a piece of Soft Suede or Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock measuring 6.5

cms x 9.5 cms once you have stamped your tree.

Now for the stamping.
Take the larger rectangle piece of Whisper White Cardstock and in the bottom Right Corner stamp your sentiment from the And Many More Stamp Set using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad
Mat this onto the corresponding piece of Soft Suede/BBS Cardstock.

Take your square piece of Whisper White Cardstock and stamp your tree trunk using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad
Once the ink has dried (takes a few moments) ink up the leaf stamp from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set and ink it up using the Mossy Meadow Classic Ink Pad. DO NOT STAMP YET!
Before stamping, you are going to ink up just the edges of the stamp using the Always Artichoke Classic Ink Pad ... then you can stamp. This gives 3 different shades of green to the leaves (Mossy Meadow, Always Artichoke and a mix of the two inks.
Mat this panel onto the square of Soft Suede/BBS Cardstock you trimmed to size earlier. Apply Stampin Dimensionals to the reverse and mount to the left hand side of your card blank
Trim a scrap of Lost Lagoon cardstock, and a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock to 1.5 cms wide and use the Banner Punch to make a 'flag' end to one end of each strip of cardstock. You will adhere these to the card base before mounting your tree element.
Mount onto your White Card Base.
Add some tiny buttons and a piece of co-ordinating Thick Bakers Twine or Linen Thread. And your card is made.

TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT

If you wanted a more solid effect to the tree, you can repeat the above, but use the stamp set as a two step stamp
To do this you could mount your stamp so the flat side of the stamp is showing with Mossy Meadow ink, stamp onto the cardstock. Clean the stamp, and re-mount it the right way round, ink up with Always Artichoke ink and stamp that over the first image.
Just have a play around and let me know how you get on?
