A Watercolour Wilderness Awaits

OK, so yesterday you saw how I created some awesome packaging for my Dad's birthday gift
& Today I am sharing with you the the watercolour card I made him
Using The Wilderness Awaits stamp set
I had great fun making the card, and hope you guys enjoy it too

I always find making cards for men Challenging, but as the years pass, it has gotten easier as companies like Stampin Up! now realise that we love making and giving Guy Cards as much as we love making girly ones.

I have to admit, that I was a little anxious when I saw that Walk in the Wild Stamp Set was retiring, BUT
This new stamp set is glorious, and the possibilities are endless.
In this card  have created the watercolour background using Watercolour Paper, and a drop each of Blushing Bride, Pool Party & Pear Pizzazz ink refills onto an acrylic Block, (you could also use a silicone Craft Mat). I got out my trusty Aqua Painter and brushed the entire surface of the card with plain water, I then began picking up small amounts of the different ink drops with the aqua painter, and dipping the colour on, and then adding additional water with the brush to dilute the colour , or add additional colour by picking up additional ink.
This then needs to be left to dry completely. If you are really impatient, you can use your heat tool to speed things up.

Whilst waiting for the card to dry, I cut a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock and ran it through my big shot using the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF).

Once the painting has dried, you can start stamping. I used a combination of a Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set and Wetlands (for the grass) & The Wilderness Awaits Stamp Set for the dog.

Then I stamped the dog. Now, I know this is a gun dog, but Mum & Dad have an English Bull Mastiff (traditionally the Game Keepers Dog), using the Dog Stamp from The Wilderness Awaits Stamp Set.

And so I used the blender pen watercolour technique to paint the dog
so it looked like Tia (Mum & Dad's Dog)
Dad was tickled pink when he opened the card ... phew!
