No Bones About It ROAR!

There was a very special reason why I purchased this stamp set
And that reason would be my one Grandson, who is so special to me
I also have 2 granddaughters, but today is all about my Grandson

It isn't his Birthday, as that was earlier in the year,
But he has always been mad about Dinosaurs, even as a toddler (he is now 8 years old)

He has Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and has always fixated on certain things and colours

So todays card combines two of those things
When I asked him to go and hunt down something special, he found it very quickly, and he just said. "It's not my birthday Nan, but I know you made this just for me"
And I did, So I am going to remake the card to go in a frame with the RWAR stamp instead of the birthday one (which I picked for all of you card makers out there)
Then he can put it up on the wall in our spare bedroom, that is set up as a kids room, more than a guest room.
Anyhow, enough of my waffling, lets get on with the crafting shall we?

NO BONES ABOUT IT
is one of Stampin Up!'s new Photopolymer Two Step Stamp Sets
They are easy enough for a complete novice to use, without the need or knowledge of masking techniques. But it does have some Heat Embossing, which is easier to do than most people think.

And here are the products I have used to create today's card

Table built using Product Table Builder by The Crafty Owl - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

And here is how I created this fun card.
Begin by making your A6 Card Base from Mossy Meadow Cardstock using your Stampin Trimmer to Cut & Score the cardstock
Trim a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4mm narrower and shorter than your card base.
Attach this to your card base using a couple of strips of Fast Fuse Adhesive

Next, trim a piece of striped paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack, and attach to the top of the card base (landscape orientation)
Next Stamp your Dino Feet to the bottom third of the card  front

Now, trim a panel of Whisper White Cardstock to 6.5 c,s x the width of your card front.

This is the piece of cardstock you are now going to be working on

Your first job is to remove any static from the cardstock, & the easiest way, is to wipe over the entire piece of cardstock you will be embossing, with an embossing buddy. This will reduce the risk of you getting patches of embossed areas you do not want!

Once you have done this, mount the dinosaur of your choice onto the best fit Acrylic Block (with no overhanging bits of stamp)
If it is the first time you are using the stamp, you will need to condition it by inking it up, and stamping off the ink onto some scrap paper, until you get a nice crisp image.
The stamp will stain once used with coloured ink, and this is normal, but it does not interfere with the function of the stamp

Now lets stamp .... ink up your Stamp with Mossy Meadow Classic Ink Pad, and Stamp ... and it should be a down, press and up action. Do not squish down too hard or the image will be distorted, and if there is not enough pressure, you will get patchy areas.

Next, Stamp the sentiment of your choice in the  top left of this panel using Early Espresso Classic ink Pad, and the bolder stamp using Soft Suede Classic Ink PAd.
The key to learning the correct pressure is to practice, practice, and more practice!

Now for the
HEAT EMBOSSING
Clean your stamp with STAMPIN MIST Cleaner, wipe dry with a piece of kitchen towel and put back in it's box.
Now mount the  skeleton stamp that corresponds with your Dinosaur above.

Ink your stamp up with VERSAMARK ink

This is a very thick sticky ink, that is really a glue medium that the embossing powder sticks to, and when you heat it, the ink and glue melt leaving a raised image.
Sprinkle the sticky area with  White Embossing Powder, shake off the excess and then give the cardstock a couple of sharp 'rap's on the back to remove any residual embossing powder.

The key to heat embossing, is only heating the glue & Powder has just melted.
I always turn my heat tool on full power, and let it come up to temperature for about 30 seconds.
Place your stamped cardstock onto a silicone Craft Mat (stampin Up! Does sell these)
And without waggling your heat tool about, start at one edge with the heat tool a 2-3 cms away from the cardstock, and move the heat tool around the stamped area as the ink melts (it will go shiny).
If the embossed image goes dull or yellowish, you have overheated the embossing.

It is much easier to do this technique than people think, and with Christmas approaching, it is a good one to practice!!

Once the embossed cardstock is cooled, mat (layer) it onto a piece of Mossy Meadow Cardstock, using Fast Fuse Adhesive; apply Stampin Dimensionals to the reverse and mount onto your card front.
