One Big Meaning & Wild About Flowers

The card I am sharing with you today

Is a garden of Wild Flowers!!

We have a naturalised garden, within our garden, and each year I look forward to seeing the wild flowers bloom

And I hope that I have managed to bring you an essence of the Wildflower Garden with this card.

Now, the other cool technique I am bringing you is called

Abigail's Knot

And here is the frustrating thing ... I have been searching for the You Tube clip that gives you a fab visual tutorial on this technique and keep getting a scream rock video instead!!

It is so frustrating, as this technique will change the way you tie knots and bows forever

So I am going to do my best to explain the process with words alone.

It is very simple, I promise.

All you need is a small single hole punch & your ribbon/trim

And here is how you do it!
Begin by deciding where on your card front you want the knot/bow to be & mark it with a small dot
Take your hole punch and punch a hole right over your dot

Next, cut your length of ribbon/trim so it is large enough to wrap around your card and tie a knot or bow. Make a loop with the ribbon/trim ensuring there are no twists in the ribbon

Holding the two ends of ribbon in one hand, take some sharp scissors, and trim the 2 ends to a point.

Keep holding the ends of the ribbon together and poke both ends of the ribbon through the hole at the same time, going from the back of your card front, to the front.

Pull the ribbon through a little, and holding the card front in one hand, put your other hand in the loop to stop the ribbon twisting,

Continue pulling the ribbon through to the front, until you can slip the loop around the front of the card. Gently pull the ribbon taught

If you now look at the back of the card front, you will see a nice flat ribbon

Finally, with the front of the card pacing you, take one of the ribbon tails, and pop it under the band of ribbon.

You can now tie your knot or bow in the normal manner, trimming the ends to the length you want .... but don't do what I did on my first attempt ... Yes, I cut through the ribbon band by mistake and had to begin again!!

And now for today's card, and the stamp sets I have used.

Wild About Flowers is one of Stampin Up!'s photopolymer Two Step Stamp Sets.

Because you can easily see through the stamps (even once they are stained), you can virtually do away with masking techniques and using Stamp A Ma Jigs

I used Pear Pizzaz ink Classic Ink Pad for the stems, and a combination of Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry classic Ink Pads for the flowers; and these were stamped onto a panel of Whisper White Cardstock

Then came the sentiment stamp from the One Big Meaning Stamp Set. which was stamped onto the whisper White Panel using Early Espresso Classic Ink Pad.

Next I made my A6 card base using Soft Suede Cardstock

I used some fast fuse to adhesive to adhere some pieces of Team Lace Doily to the back of the stamped panel.

Next I used the Abigail's Knot technique to make my bow, using Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon

I attached the card front to the card base using Fast Fuse Adhesive (my new best friend).

And finally, I added some Basic Pearls, and the card was complete.
