Cozy Christmas on a clear Winters Night & Tags Two Ways

The card I am sharing with you, today, is one made at a recent Workshop and it was the star of the show
who can resist santa and his reindeers flying through the night sky and silhouetted in front of the misty moon?
The Workshop Attendees  decided which way they wanted their sentiment to be; wither stamped in Night of Navy Ink OR Heat Embossed and sponged
The colours used for the night sky was Night of Navy  and Island Indigo
With Smokey Slate for the Masked moon

If you scroll to the bottom of today's blogpost, you will find the full tutorial

TUTORIAL
  1. Begin by making your card base by trimming a piece of Thicker A4 Whisper White Cardstock to 14.8 cms x 21cms; Using either the Scoring Blade on your Stamping Trimmer OR your Simply Scored Scoring Tool (plus the Metric Plate), score the long side at 10.5 cms; fold along the score line and run your bone folder along the fold to give a crisp edge
  2. Trim a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 14 cms x 13.7 cms
  3. Wipe your Embossing Buddy sll over the piece of cardstock to remove any static that can cause odd blobs to show up when you sponge.
  4. Using Versamark Ink, stamp the house and Santa and his sleigh as shown in the photos.; Dust with Clear Embossing Powder and tap off the excess; Heat set the embossing powder using your Heat Tool .... this will create the Emboss Resist we will be using to create the background.
  5. Begin by punching a scrap of cardstock with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. Place this in the top right corner of the cardstock to create the mask for the moon. I prefer to use cardstock and hold the circle in place firmly with a finger while sponging the area as I find a post it note isn't robust enough for this technique
  6. Ink up a wedge of your Stampin Sponge with Island Indigo Ink, hold the mask in place and sponge around the mask, extending outwards. Once you have that area sponged, you can take your finger off the mask but leave it in place.
  7. Sponge the remainder of the panel, and you want changes in shade, so do not worry too much about getting the sponging even. Re-ink your sponge regularly.
  8. Remove the excess of ink on the sponge on a scrap of paper, and then ink it up with Night of Navy Ink, This time start at the bottom, working up, as you get close the the mask, place your finger back onto the circle to prevent contamination. I like tp have more Night of Navy around the house and under the 'moon' and Santa and his sleigh. You do this by gently building up the ink in layers until you are happy.
  9. Remove any excess ink from the Resist areas using some Kitchen Towel.
  10. Now for that moon - take another wedge of Stampin Sponge and ink it up with Smokey Slate Ink. use the thinest part of the sponge and squidge it into a circle ish shape. Take the piece of Cardstock you punched your circle from, and you are going to use this as a mask by placing the 'hole' over the circle of the moon, this will help prevent you over inking the edges of the moon. you want to try and get the colour just around the Resist as you can see in the photo below.
  11. Mat (layer) the sponged panel onto a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock measuring 14.4 cms x 10.1 cms using a couple of strips of Fast Fuse Adhesive. then mount this onto your Card Base.
  12. Now for the tag .... I am going with the Night of Navy Stamped version, but you could use the emboss resist option if you chose. Trim a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 5 cms x 13.7 cms. Punch one end with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch; Ink up the Bells Stamp with Night of Navy Classic Ink Pad and stamp just under the Ribbon notch; beneath that, stamp your Sentiment in Night of Navy ink also. Lightly sponge the edges of the tag, using residual ink on the sponge you used for the background. Thread a piece of Night of Navy Seam Binding Ribbon through the ribbon notch and tie the ribbon off using sime Silver Cirding Trim, leaving long ends.
  13. Apply a few Stampin Dimensionals (sticky fixers) to the back of the tag, and mount at an angle on the left hand side of the card. ... and there your have it ... easy when you know how, but practice makes perfect ...
